Ready to make peace with your past & move towards clear authenticity?

STEP INTO THE POWERFUL, HONEST, AUTHENTIC LIFE YOU CAN LIVE ONCE YOU BEGIN TO PROCESS YOUR PAST

Through psychotherapy with Sonja, a weekly one-to-one in depth exploration, you’ll be supported to look at the ways in which your childhood patterns & beliefs keep you distracted. As you step into your adult self, with compassion and awareness, you will see the intelligence behind the young behaviours that no longer serve you and be free to choose a different path.

You’re here to live life as

a unique expression of you

YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS AN AUTHENTICITY

INSIDE OF YOU WAITING TO REVEAL ITSELF…

BUT YOU KEEP TRIPPING YOURSELF UP

  • Maybe you’re tired of finding yourself in the same disastrous self destructive pattern with money, with health, with relationships…

  • Maybe you’re exhausted from running, trying not to feel but your past is catching up with you…

  • Maybe you’ve lost too much and you have no idea how to get back up…

  • Maybe you’re ashamed for feeling depressed because you have so much, and yet…

  • Maybe you’ve lost any sense of who you are and you can’t connect to the life you’re living…

  • Maybe you’ve tried everything to heal and it feels like a merry-go-round of positive times then heartbreaking crashes…

MAYBE YOU’RE STARTING TO BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS YOU…

You’re in The Right Place

I’ve worked with women like you who felt hopeless and exhausted from the effort of performing a ‘normal’ life. Like you they were kind & caring women who were doing it all right but felt wrong. Something was off. They could exceed the expectations of others perfectly but they never felt good in themself. They weren’t yet living their life.

It’s my mission to help women process the echoes of childhood trauma to bring light to the blind spots that keep them small so that the authentic expression of their life can emerge.

How would it feel to…

  • Go deeper and explore who you really are beneath the performance

  • Understand the ways your early years experiences play out in your relationships today

  • Learn to meet the reality of your past with courageous compassion

  • Uncover what lies beneath your choices around money, sex, food & more

  • Have a clear set of actions to take when you start to feel overwhelm

  • Be in relationship with a partner without losing yourself

  • Experience confidence in the reassuring knowledge that you can handle whatever emotions come

  • Replace victim mentality with the ability to speak honestly & clearly about your experiences

  • Take full ownership of your demons and gifts (and realising they’re the same thing)

All of this is possible for you.

MY CLIENTS ARE LIVING PROOF & YOU CAN BE TOO

Here’s how we’ll do it, together.

  • 1

    MIND

Using Western models of psychotherapy we’ll explore & reflect on attachment styles, the role of our parts and the learnt structures of our behaviour & response.

  • 2

    BODY

Learning (or remembering) how to orient to sensation in the body for compassionate enquiry, you’ll learn tools for self regulation and gain access to body truth - because the body never lies.

  • 3

    IMAGINAL

Discovering the wisdom & support accessible within a consistent meditation practice, you’ll start to recover your dreams & the healing potential of the imaginal world.

Hi, I’m Sonja Lockyer

a senior student of Core Process Psychotherapy, with 20 years of yoga & bodywork experience.

In 2005 I began a professional career in yoga, breath & meditation practices, gravitating towards working with trauma in the body & systems of self regulation which led me on to bodywork and biodynamic cranio sacral therapy. I know the importance of attending to both mind and body if we are to effectively and safely process our trauma history.

I chose my studies in CPP Psychotherapy at the Karuna Institute in 2021 because of the profound depth, integrity & compassion of the training.

FOR THE LAST 9 MONTHS I’VE BEEN WORKING WITH WOMEN TO PROCESS THEIR CHILDHOOD TRAUMA SO THEY CAN UNCOVER THE AUTHENTIC LIFE THAT HAS BEEN WAITING FOR THEM JUST THE OTHER SIDE OF THEIR SUFFERING.

My clients are adult women who have learnt to manage and control their environment to foster a sense of stability & safety. By prioritising the wellbeing of those around them above their own, they have learnt to bury their needs so deep that they no longer know they exist. They want to start living a life in alignment with who they are at their core.

& NOW IT’S YOUR TURN.

So what is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is an invitation to explore the ways in which we move through life, acknowledging that we see through a lens of conditioning that colours the way we relate to ourselves, one another and the world.

Often, we are following young patterns that originated as an intelligent response to life, keeping us safe and cultivating relational connections needed for our survival.

As we become adult, these patterns may no longer serve us and yet we have become blind to their existence. There may be parts of ourselves rejected or disallowed that hold the key to the expression of who we really are.

PSYCHOTHERAPY OFFERS YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE YOUR WHOLE SELF.

Entering into the therapeutic relationship allows compassionate and courageous co-enquiry to invite the whole self to emerge, witnessing and acknowledging what is, so that the wisdom and transformation within the mind-body field has space to emerge.

Psychotherapy Outline

Psychotherapy with Sonja weaves the mind, the body & the imaginal into one intelligent process.

THE 3 STEPS YOU’LL TAKE:

1.

MIND

Guided by the work of Western Psychotherapists around parts, shadow and attachment, we’ll explore the foundation of your coping mechanisms learnt in early childhood.

  • Explore the invisible beliefs that underpin your lens on the world

  • Recognise the false ‘concrete truths’ that keep you trapped

  • Acknowledge the internalised voices used to attack yourself

  • Meet your protective defences with compassion and gratitude

  • Tune into the young parts that you banish from public eye (both good & bad)

  • Build your radar for recognising when you’re in the trance of an old story

  • Acknowledge the transference in your relational challenges

  • Get clear on who’s voice you’re listening to

  • Understand with kindness the adult underpinning of a young search for love, connection and safety

2.

BODY

The body offers reliable and honest wisdom that bypasses the false stories we tell ourselves mentally. For in-depth change to last it must be felt and experienced by the physical body. To integrate the body into your psychotherapeutic process you will be tending to the groundwork of your tissue with somatic enquiry & tools for self regulation.

  • Unpack the biology of the stress response

  • Build a supportive relationship with your breath as a practice

  • Decide on a personal movement practice that sustains & resources you (all movements welcome)

  • Cultivate a bond between your mental awareness and bodily sensation to support access to somatic enquiry

  • Understand the value of your body as a friend not foe

  • Learn how to trust your instincts & listen to sensation as a conversation with the body

  • Become fluent in the language of boundaries, anger & rage as a supportive resource (not a destructive threat)

3.

IMAGINAL

Allowing space for the unseen, you’ll stay open to the wisdom and support of the imaginal realm as a tool for clarity and intuition. Calling on the work of Jung and feminine story tellers, you will explore myth, archetype & dreams.

  • Build a dream practice so that you cultivate relationship with your dreams

  • Unpack the content of your dreams with intuition and instinct

  • Decide on a consistent meditation practice for yourself

  • Practice guided meditations for calling in future self

  • Anchor yourself with self orientation to land, midline & cosmos

  • Recalibrate your connection to intuition and divine feminine wisdom

  • Familiarise yourself with the unseen support offered by deities, loved ones & ancestors

With the right support in place you’ll safely find your path & your timeframe to bring light to the shadows and liberation to your core self.

Psychotherapy with Sonja gives you everything you need to explore your inner process…

... EVEN IF YOU FEEL YOU’VE ALREADY TRIED EVERYTHING

Many women come to this process after years, decades even, of trying different paths of therapy. Acknowledging that not all therapy suits all clients, CPP offers a deep holding for whatever your process brings which may be different to what you’ve experienced before.

… EVEN IF YOU’RE NOT INTO SPIRITUAL PRACTICES

You’ll be guided towards practices for strengthening your capacity to self reflect which can be as simple as writing a diary, keeping a dream diary, taking up a daily meditation practice or simply scheduling a walk in quiet each day.

… EVEN IF YOU’RE CONSUMED WITH FEAR, REMORSE & SELF DOUBT

No matter how overwhelming your demons feel, they are welcome here. The truth is that your core self is whole & perfect no matter what your story.

No matter where you are now, there is a path that will support you as you process your past & liberate your authentic self.

  • You’ll start with 6 sessions but you are likely to want more. I’d suggest 12 sessions as a minimum but for some it becomes a weekly support that is transformational and continues for years.

  • Yes. Whatever you’re bringing to the therapeutic space it is likely that experiences from your childhood had an impact - both good & bad. If there is something causing suffering in your adult life, we can explore of the roots back to the beginning and shine a light on where the beliefs and conditioning began.

  • The right time for you will be when you are ready to bring abpout change in your life and you have enough resources of time and finances to support you.

It may be that you need to rest more and take care of yourself as you begin the sessions so that is worth considering.

  • Psychotherapy may alleviate symptoms such as relationship conflict, anxiety & stress, depression, bereavement, anger, unresolved childhood trauma and unhelpful repeating behavioural patterns.

The symptoms of suffering help us to uncover and attend to the core of the issue, allowing symptoms to ease.

CPP is a reflective practice that allows the layers to peel away so that we can become clear in recognising our part and our needs.

This way we open to the possibility of becoming more conscious in our choices and responses.

  • CPP is different in that it doesn’t promise to fix you since the practice is built on the understanding that you are inherently whole. Our time together is simply removing the layers that give the illusion of broken.

Another difference may be the relationship between client and therapist is equal - not a hierarchal done & done to model of therapy.

CPP is a contemplative, relational practice that offers an intention for safe and compassionate inquiry.

It is in the safety of the therapeutic relationship and the present moment awareness that it cultivates, that we can lay down ideas of right and wrong and allow self awareness to emerge.

  • Core Process Psychotherapy is a mindfulness-based psychotherapeautic practice that offers opportunity for clients to cultivate compassionate self enquiry.

By holding the intention of a safe relational field between therapist and client, we can support inner and outer transformation to arise.

  • 30 minute introductory session free of charge.

Thereafter, sessions cost £60 and last 60 minutes. £60 is the student rate, applicable until accreditation, whereupon the session fee will increase to £90.

All sessions will be invoiced at the start of each month and any cancellation must be mutually agreed in writing. Cancellation or failure to attend within 48hrs of a scheduled appointment will be charged at full rate.

  • I am a trainee member of the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a trainee member of the Association of Core Process Psychotherapists (ACPP).

I am fully insured and abide by the UKCP code of ethics and any complaints should be raised direct with UKCP.
